Boston, MA / Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership- DC
Dana-Farber’s first major clinical building project since 1975 is the new main entrance and a signature image for the Institute. Primary goals were to promote personalized multidisciplinary cancer care, optimize flexibility and minimize wait and treatment times, enhance flow across campus and to adjacent hospitals, and stimulate the translation of research into patient care. The specifications included a terracotta rainscreen, façade assembly, and healing garden. The specifications also incorporated LEED and GGHC (Green Guide to Healthcare) requirements as set by the design team. Located within Boston’s dense Longwood Medical and Academic Area, the 275,000 sf building is anticipated to receive a LEED Silver rating and is a pilot for the Green Guide for Healthcare v2.2 initiative.
