John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Concert Hall

Washington, DC / Quinn Evans Architects

The renovations upgraded the three performing spaces originally constructed in 1971: Concert Hall, Eisenhower Theater and Opera House (Quinn Evans Architects for all 3 spaces). The specifications for the Concert Hall included detailed requirements for custom-formulated paint finishes using organic pigments and colorants, developed in coordination with the owner’s color consultant; acoustical door and frame assemblies; and custom acoustical/reflective panels for balcony fascias and for a “floating” canopy above the stage.
