Yorktown High School is a 1,600 student, comprehensive high school that has been repeatedly recognized for academic excellence. Built on a very tight 11.5-acre site, the 350,000 gsf school is organized around a central courtyard that creates a “heart” for the school and ensures pervasive natural light and views throughout the building. Yorktown High School is currently projected to attain LEED® Gold certification. The energy performance alone of the design is projected to save the county over $140,000 dollars per year over the base line model.
